Ger Moane is a psychologist, writer and shamanic practitioner. She is Professor Emerita in the School of Psychology, University College Dublin, where for many years she specialized in human development. Her first book Gender and Colonialism, a Psychological Analysis of Oppression and Liberation, was a pioneering work in the field of liberation psychology. Her advocacy of a feminist liberation psychology secured a distinguished publication award; other awards include a Fulbright and a Marie Curie award. She has published extensively on feminist and post-colonial psychology and the Irish psyche, as well as on LGBTQ+ issues.
Her fiction is inspired by a fascination with ancient Ireland, mythology and spirituality. Several works of fiction and creative non-fiction have been published in anthologies (e.g. Soul Seers, After the Train, The Crone Initiation), journals (e.g. Trivia, Eisteach, Dublin Review of Books), and online (Quare Eire). She has also published opinion feature articles in print media such as The Irish Times, The Irish Examiner, and Gay Community News. Her debut novel, Keeper of Stones, which imagines the world of Newgrange, was an Irish Times bestseller.
